Creating soft, flowy waves has somewhat been Mission
Impossible for my naturally curly, frizzy hair.
Thankfully after many trial and errors (lots of errors) I have found a technique that works for me that I’d
like to share.
Secret Weapons:
- Unite Session Whip Volume Foam
- Moroccan Oil
- 1 ½ Inch Curling Iron
- Rat-Tail Comb
- L'Oreal Elnett Satin Hairspray
The How-To
· I apply the Session Whip Volume Foam to my roots
and blow dry my hair as straight as possible (since otherwise it’s pretty curly). Once hair is completely dry, section it off into 2
sections as if you’re going to make pigtails.
· Then starting from the back of your hair and
working forwards, begin taking 2-inch sections (see image 1 above) and wrap them
around the barrel of the curling iron (see image 2).
· Carefully let the curl slide off of the barrel
so that it can cool. Push it back and
grab the next 2-inch section, again working your way forward (see image 3).
· Make sure to curl your hair away from your
face which allows for nicer waves (see image 4).
· Once one side of your hair is curled, start on
the other side (see image 5) and repeat until you’ve curled each section of
your hair (see image 6).
· Let hair stand a few minutes so that it can
cool. Then take the end of your rat-tail
comb and gently begin running it through each of the sections that have been
curled, thus separating them into soft waves (see image 7).
You can also use your fingers however the more you touch your hair, the
more frizz happens to rear its ugly head….at least in my case.
· Once all curls have been lightly combed
through, you can take a small amount of Moroccan oil
and apply sparingly to the ends and pieces framing your face.
· Mist lightly with some hairspray and you’re
all set! (see images 8 and 9)
