Football season is in full swing, and around here Sundays are spent cheering for our favorite players and munching on comfort food. This baked macaroni and cheese always hits the spot with the addition of a little something extra - bacon!
3 tbsp butter
1/4 c. flour
1 3/4 c. whole milk
8 oz. shredded cheddar cheese
8 oz. elbow pasta, cooked and drained (undercook by 2 minutes)
4 slices of bacon, cooked and crumbled
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. chili powder1/8 tsp. garlic powder
Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in the flour, and continue to whisk for a minute or two. Add the milk, salt, chili powder and garlic powder and whisk frequently for 10 minutes until the sauce thickens. Remove from heat and whisk in the cheese until melted. Add the crumbled bacon to the sauce mixture.
Combine pasta and sauce, and pour into a greased 8x8 baking dish. Bake at 350 degrees uncovered for 20-30 minutes until golden on top. Serve and enjoy!
