Wherever you live, October is a really fun month. We look forward to Halloween and all the fun festivities that come along with the season change. With the better part of the month still left, here are a few ideas to do with your kiddos to make the most of the next two weeks.
Visit a Corn Maze
Corn mazes are so much fun! If you're really daring you can do a flash light maze at night - those are extra scary, and probably not something the littlest kids would enjoy. It would make a perfect date night!
Go to a Haunted House
If you're into being scared or looking for something new to do on a weekend, check out your local haunted houses. Some of the bigger productions will charge an admission to get in, but sometimes you can find ones that are put on in private homes. Our very own blogger, Kari, and her husband have done a home haunt for years, and they are just as scary! Kids tend to enjoy the smaller ones more, so check around your area to see what is offered.
Take a Fall Color Drive
I remember doing this every year when we were growing up, and I loved it. We would stop to take pictures and even gather up some fall foliage that we had found.
Bringing home some different leaves to make projects with is a great idea for kids too.
Pick Your Own Pumpkins
Going to a farm and picking your own pumpkins is a must! They usually have a lot of other things for the kids to take part in too. From train rides to fun slides, petting zoos and our favorite hay ride to the pumpkin patch. You get to take great pictures and find the best pumpkins you can. Not only is the experience so cool, but the pumpkins are usually much CHEAPER!
Make a Scarecrow
Roast Your Own Pumpkin Seeds
Start a Boo Tradition
Spreading the Halloween spirit is a great way for the kids to interact with their neighborhood friends. Make a goodie bag with some treats and goodies in it. Go to your neighbors house, leave the bag, ring the bell, and run! Its so much fun for them to get excited about the fun stuff they have left around the street. If you get Boo'ed leave a sign up saying "We've been Boo'ed" so others can pass their boos on to the houses that still need some Halloween love!
Go Trunk or Treating
For those of you who haven't gone Trunk or Treating, this should be your year! This event is great fun. I went to one at the Roseville Speedway once with cars lining the entire track. All the vehicles are all decorated and the trunks are FULL of TREATS!! Get your best costume on and head out to a local trunk or treat event with the kids. I guarantee they will have an awesome time!
